Awards Division and Committees, which is managed by the Awards Manager and its activities are directed by the General Board of Awards. The General Board of Awards are made up of several Award Committees, which deal with specific types of awards. All the Committees are governed by the rules, procedures and regulations of the Academy.

These are:

• The Joint International Education Committee, which approves the Higher Education Support awards and other educational awards for research or educational studies leading to higher education awards. The duration of the grant awarded by the Committee are usually between one to four years.
• The Joint International Academies of Education Committee approves career development and research grants, with the duration of five years or more. The category of grants under this scheme include the Higher Senior Academic or Research Fellowship Awards. It is important to note that Senior Academic and Senior Research Fellowship Award, which has a duration of five years or more is approved by the JIARE Board of Awards, due to certain rules that it contains.
• The Special Events Committee approves grants for specific event or publication. These grants have a duration of no more than 12 months and includes travel awards for conferences and scientific meetings, production and printing of relevant reports, hosting of special events, for example opening of Centres or Units funded by the JIARE and other events, which the Committee deemed suitable.
• Institutional Awards Committee approves awards made to institutions or organisation, which has hosted up to three or more JIARE grants, and where the Fellow(s) had developed their careers and contributed to Education and Research. The Institutions which receives the award are required to use it to improve research and educational activities.
